Consuming 2 servings of fruit a day helps reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.

People who eat 2 servings of fruit a day have a 36% lower chance of developing type 2 diabetes than those who consume less than half a serving of fruit, according to a study in Australia that has 7k participants.

And only whole fruit could lower the risk, drinking fruit juice did not have positive effects.

The study also noted that people who consumed more fruit, had to produce less insulin to lower their blood sugar levels.

This is important since high levels of circulating insulin may damage blood vessels and cause high blood pressure.

However, it should be noted that the study has pointed out that people who eat more fruits also have healthier lifestyles, so there is no direct relationship between eating fruits and lower risk of diabetes.
